SunExpress is Increasing its 2022 Summer Capacity

SunExpress, a joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, will be increasing its capacity for the summer 2022 season.

Turkey’s number one leisure airline continues to respond to increased demand which has been fueled by the easing of travel restrictions and Covid-19 measures. SunExpress will be adding eight aircraft to its fleet, six of which will join as a damp lease for the summer of 2022 from Avion Express and two Boeing 737-800 jets will join as an operational lease for a six-to-seven-year term.

Considering SunExpress’ latest nine Boeing deliveries, 17 aircraft have been added to the fleet in the last six months.

“We see rising booking numbers and a strong increase in demand in our core European source markets. The additional lease capacity will support our strong market position in Europe” said SunExpress CEO Max Kownatzki.

“We are looking forward to a strong summer in 2022 with the largest route network expansion in our company’s history. Our fleet of 67 aircraft will enable us to reach our target of welcoming 10 million passengers this year.”

SunExpress recently announced the introduction of 25 new routes and 16,250 additional frequencies for the summer season. In 2022, the airline will offer non-stop flights on more than 175 routes from Turkey to 60 destinations in 30 countries. SunExpress boasts an agile fleet and network management structure, ensuring rapid adaptability to shifting market demands.
