After shutting its doors in February 2017, Raffles Singapore officially reopened in October 2019 after a careful and sensitive three-phased restoration. The iconic Raffles Hotel, which was built in 1887 as a 10-room hotel, has undergone just two restorations in its 133-year history. The property is declared a National Monument a century later by the Singapore Government in 1987. The hotel has welcomed countless legendary names throughout its history. Writers, movie stars, dignitaries, journalists… They all found inspiration and conviviality here. Among the many luminaries were Rudyard Kipling, Elizabeth Taylor, Somerset Maugham, Ava Gardner and Noel Coward.

From humble beginnings in 1887, it now houses a variety of restaurants, bars and numerous upscale shops, in addition to its luxury suites. The revitalized Raffles Singapore offers luxurious all-suite accommodations, across nine distinct suite categories: State Room Suites, Courtyard Suites, Palm Court Suites, Personality Suites, Residence Suites, Promenade Suites, Studio Suites, Grand Hotel Suites and Presidential Suites. Residence, Promenade and Studio suites, are the three latest additions to the hotel’s existing line-up. The total suite count increases from 103 suites to 115 suites.

Guests and locals will also delight in exploring the worldly restaurants and bars at Raffles Singapore, including restaurant collaborations with Chef Anne-Sophie Pic, of the three-Michelin star Maison Pic in Valence, France; venerable French Master Chef Alain Ducasse; and Chef Jereme Leung, known for his innovative Chinese cooking. Far East Hospitality, Singapore’s leading operator of hotels and serviced residences, opened its third hotel on Sentosa, The Barracks Hotel Sentosa, which was formerly used as a military outpost during the colonial period.

The meticulously restored British artillery outpost now provides “an ultra-exclusive” experience that is “tailor-made for the discerning traveller seeking timeless luxury and service with attention to detail.

Of the 40 available rooms across two storeys, 33 are 312 sq ft premier rooms; six are 635 sq ft suites with a king-size bed each; and the last is a 312 sq ft accessible room fitted with a queen-size bed. In each premier room are a king or twin bedroom with an en suite bathroom, and an outdoor patio for those on the ground floor or a balcony for those on the second floor. The patio comes with direct access to the pool. For the suites, semi-private jacuzzi access is available.
