Ecuador’s Entry Requirements for Foreign Travelers

Ecuador has been open for tourism since June 2020 and will remain open to visitors that meet the following updated requirements.

As of November 23, all persons traveling to Ecuador by international air must present the Traveler’s Health Declaration digitally (if not available on the platform, the physical form can be presented) at the time of boarding.

In addition, passengers over 16 years of age must present a complete vaccination card with at least 14 days of validity and a negative result of an RT-PCR test performed up to 72 hours prior to boarding.

Minors between 2 and 16 years old entering the country must present a negative result of an RT-PCR test performed up to 72 hours prior to boarding.

For entry into the Galapagos, passengers, regardless of their migratory category, must present a complete vaccination card with at least 14 days of validity and a negative result of an RT-PCR test performed up to 72 hours prior to boarding.

Minors between 2 and 16 years old must present a negative result of an RT-PCR test performed up to 72 hours prior to boarding along with the Transit control card issued by the Galapagos Special Regime Government Council as well as the same requirements for mainland Ecuador mentioned above.

From December 1, anyone who has traveled from or through South Africa – where the Omicron strain was first detected – Botswana, Egypt, Mozambique, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Eswatini and Namibia will not be allowed to enter the country.

Vacations in the Galapagos Islands provide a unique opportunity to encounter and experience animals in their natural habitat. Here you can relax near the Galapagos giant tortoise, swim with playful sea lions, and enjoy the deep blue sea with welcoming iguanas. The island and its surrounding marine environment make up the Galapagos National Park and is listed as a “World Heritage Site” by UNESCO. Since only four islands are inhabited, most islands can only be visited by a certified naturalist guide on a Galapagos yacht approved by the Park Service. Each island has something exclusive to offer.
