Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Porto

A New Hilton Brand to Debut in Portugal

Hilton, a leading global hospitality company, announced the introduction of its upscale hotel brand into Portugal.

A new property in the Tapestry Collection by Hilton portfolio of upscale, original hotels will bring an exciting new guest experience to Portugal’s second-largest city, Porto.

Sé Catedral Hotel Porto, a unique 77-room property is planned to open in early summer 2021.

The hotel is owned by Referência Arrojada SA, a subsidiary of Mercan Group of Companies, and will operate under a franchise agreement with Hilton.

There will be plenty for the hotel’s adventure-seeking guests to discover in the local neighbourhood – a UNESCO World Heritage Site steeped in rich heritage with a vibrant nightlife. Some of Porto’s main tourist attractions, including the 12th century Sé Cathedral, Clérigos Tower and Livraria Lello, are within 10 minutes’ walk away from the hotel. Guests will also enjoy easy access to major transport hubs, including the decorative São Bento Train Station, located a few minutes’ walk from the hotel, and Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport, a 20km drive away.

The hotel will feature an on-site bar and restaurant, as well as nearby parking.

The city of Porto, made famous by the production of Port Wine, continues to be one of the most popular destinations for travellers in Western Europe. A city of thrilling contrasts, it offers both centuries of history as well as an energetic leisure and entertainment scene, framed by the dramatic vistas of its many green spaces.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, Senior Vice President, Development, EMEA, Hilton said: “Sé Catedral Hotel Porto will be an impressive debut for Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Portugal, and we’re pleased to partner with Mercan Group. Tapestry Collection is gathering momentum in Europe, and with new hotels planned in destinations including Paris and Madrid, we see significant scope for growth across the continent. In particular, we expect this expansion to be driven by conversion opportunities, as hotels seek to benefit from visibility in front of 110 million Hilton Honors members whilst maintaining a unique look and feel.”

Sé Catedral Hotel Porto, Tapestry Collection by Hilton will join a portfolio of more than 40 distinctive properties worldwide.

It is the third European property from the brand to be announced following agreements for the Atocha Hotel Madrid, Tapestry Collection by Hilton and Le Belgrand Hotel Paris Champs Elysées, Tapestry Collection by Hilton.
