Accor’s ibis brand is set to expand its footprint in Kazakhstan by opening a brand-new hotel in Semey.
Slated to welcome guests in 2027, the ibis Semey will bring modern, affordable hospitality to one of Kazakhstan’s oldest and most culturally rich cities. This development is part of Accor’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its presence in the region, where it already operates 13 properties.
The 100-room ibis Semey will embody the signature elements of the ibis brand — contemporary design, vibrant social spaces, and functional comfort. It will be built according to the brand’s acclaimed Agora concept, which blends modern design with cozy practicality. Guests can expect inviting communal areas, a welcoming restaurant and bar, and a fully-equipped fitness center. For business and community needs, the hotel will feature adaptable meeting spaces to support events of varying sizes.
Strategically located along the Irtysh River and near Semey International Airport, the hotel is positioned to become a key destination for both travelers and locals. The city of Semey, known as an educational and cultural hub in Kazakhstan, will benefit from adding a globally recognized hotel brand like ibis. By offering accessible, quality accommodations, the hotel aims to meet the needs of budget-conscious travelers without compromising on style or comfort.
Alexis Delaroff, COO of Accor New East Europe, remarked, “Kazakhstan offers a great mixture of culture, history and natural landscapes, which is attracting more travelers domestically and internationally. Semey is an important cultural and educational hub in Kazakhstan, and it is the perfect addition to further expand our presence in the country with another world-recognized brand.”
This announcement marks a new chapter in Accor’s rapid expansion in Central Asia. As demand for quality, affordable lodging increases, the ibis Semey aims to bridge the gap by delivering a vibrant yet budget-friendly option for travelers. The move reflects ibis’ mission to “democratize travel,” making it more accessible to everyone. The brand’s commitment to inclusivity is further emphasized by its participation in the ALL loyalty program, which allows guests to earn and redeem points for exclusive rewards.
The arrival of ibis Semey coincides with the brand’s 50th anniversary celebration, a milestone marked by a global campaign encouraging travelers to “Go get it” and explore the world with purpose. With over 1,200 hotels in 70 countries and more than 130 new projects in development, ibis continues to be a driving force in the evolution of economy hospitality.
By selecting Semey as the latest location for an ibis hotel, Accor underscores its belief in Kazakhstan’s tourism potential.
With its rich history, natural beauty, and increasing interest from domestic and international travelers, Semey is an ideal fit for the ibis experience. As the city continues to develop its appeal as a destination, the ibis Semey will play a vital role in supporting its growth as a cultural, educational, and economic center.
