Hard Rock International Expands Global Presence with New Hotel in Portugal’s Algarve Region

Hard Rock International has unveiled plans to expand its global footprint with new development in Portugal’s Algarve region. The Hard Rock Hotel Algarve, located near the stunning sands of Praia do Vau, Portimão, is set to further amplify the brand’s renowned offerings.

Construction is slated to commence in early 2024 with an anticipated opening in summer 2026. The hotel will feature approximately 275 luxurious rooms and suites, along with an additional 150 branded serviced apartments, promising a grand welcome to tourists and locals alike.

Todd Hricko, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Hotel Development for Hard Rock International, expressed his enthusiasm about the expansion. He said, “We’re delighted to extend Hard Rock Hotel’s unparalleled offerings to the beautiful country of Portugal in 2026. This new development will extend the enhanced entertainment experience our guests know and love to another part of the world, incorporating the country’s amazing culture.”

The property boasts an impressive array of amenities, including direct beach access, the renowned Hard Rock Roxity Kids Club™, three restaurants, bars, exterior pools, a Rock Spa®, gym, Rock Shop®, sports area, and beach club.

Portimão, known for its historic ports, lively marina, and the Algarve International Autodrome, offers a blend of history and modern amenities. The hotel’s location on Vau Beach offers an exquisite view of coppery cliffs, turquoise waters, and access to a range of restaurants offering fresh seafood.

Jordi Vilanova, President of Mercan Properties, highlighted the potential impact of the new venture. He stated, “We’re excited to create a unique asset on the shores of Praia do Vau that reflects the Portuguese culture and attracts visitors from around the globe. The new hotel is expected to generate over 400 jobs during construction and operations starting in 2024. This venture will not only boost the local economy but also enhance the overall tourism experience in the region.
