IHG expands in India with new Crowne Plaza Resort Jim Corbett, bringing a premium hospitality experience to one of the country’s most visited wildlife destinations. The new resort is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2027 and marks the debut of the Crowne Plaza brand in Jim Corbett.
Developed in partnership with Girija Land Ventures Pvt Ltd, the resort will be located in Ramnagar, the main gateway to Jim Corbett National Park. Known for its rich biodiversity and attracting over 300,000 visitors annually, the area is not only a haven for wildlife lovers but is also emerging as a hub for MICE events and destination weddings.
Once complete, the Crowne Plaza Resort Jim Corbett will feature 181 well-appointed rooms designed for both leisure and business travelers. The property will include four distinct dining venues: an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a bar, and a lobby lounge. Guests will also have access to a club lounge, spa, swimming pool, and fitness center. To enhance the guest experience, the hotel will feature curated retail spaces within the premises.
For events and gatherings, the hotel will be equipped with banquet halls and flexible meeting rooms that cater to corporate conferences, weddings, and social celebrations. With its mix of nature, comfort, and event-ready infrastructure, the resort is poised to meet the rising demand for blended travel experiences that combine work, relaxation, and adventure.
The location near local attractions such as Garjiya Devi Temple and Corbett Falls adds cultural value to the resort, allowing travelers to explore beyond the boundaries of the national park. The blend of natural beauty and modern amenities is expected to appeal to Indian and international visitors alike.
According to Sudeep Jain, Managing Director for South West Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, the partnership aligns with the company’s strategy to bring quality branded accommodations to India’s leading leisure destinations. He emphasized the region’s growing popularity as a MICE venue and its excellent connectivity, noting the resort’s potential to set new standards in hospitality.
Avinash Kumar Jha, Director of Girija Land Ventures Pvt Ltd, also expressed confidence in the collaboration. He highlighted the strength of IHG’s global hospitality expertise combined with local insight as key factors that will elevate the experience for both leisure seekers and business guests.
The upcoming resort is part of IHG’s broader growth plan in India, where the group currently operates 47 hotels across six brands, including Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza, voco, Holiday Inn Resort, and Holiday Inn Express. With an additional 60 hotels in the pipeline over the next 3 to 5 years, IHG is strengthening its footprint across both metropolitan areas and resort destinations.
Crowne Plaza is one of the world’s largest premium hotel brands, known for serving guests in city, resort, airport, and suburban locations. In India, there are currently eight operating Crowne Plaza hotels, and the brand’s footprint is set to double with eight more developments underway.
The Crowne Plaza Resort Jim Corbett is positioned to become a flagship property in northern India, offering a balance of natural immersion and upscale hospitality. As travelers increasingly seek destinations that offer both escape and convenience, IHG’s investment in Jim Corbett reflects a timely and strategic move.
With tourism in India experiencing strong post-pandemic growth and domestic travelers exploring new corners of the country, resorts like this are expected to play a central role in shaping future travel trends.
