IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), a global leader in hospitality, has announced a significant expansion in Vietnam with a two-hotel deal in the picturesque Quang Binh province.
This move marks IHG’s strategic entry into a region celebrated for its natural beauty, cultural heritage, and growing appeal among travelers.
The partnership with Hai Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company and Vietnam Royal Investment and Construction Co., Ltd (VRIC) will bring to life two premium properties: the voco Quang Binh Resort and Crowne Plaza Quang Binh City Centre. The introduction of these two hotels is set to enhance the region’s appeal, offering luxurious and modern accommodations to both domestic and international visitors.
Quang Binh is a destination rich in natural wonders, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, famous for its extensive karst landscape and awe-inspiring caves like Son Doong, the largest cave in the world. The province’s diverse attractions, from pristine beaches to historical sites, make it a prime location for tourism growth.
Chris Anklin, Senior Director of Development for Southeast Asia and Korea at IHG Hotels & Resorts, expressed enthusiasm about the new venture: “It is wonderful to be expanding into Quang Binh – an exciting new destination for IHG in Vietnam. This destination debut will strengthen the presence of our brand portfolio in Vietnam, offering stay experiences for every type of traveler.”
The voco Quang Binh Resort, featuring 68 villas, will be the second voco hotel in Vietnam, following the voco Ma Belle Danang. Set to open next year, it promises a unique blend of comfort and charm, providing guests with a beachfront experience and a range of luxurious amenities including private beaches, indoor and outdoor pools, and a resort center.
Meanwhile, the 232-room Crowne Plaza Quang Binh City Centre, slated to open in late 2025, will cater to both business and leisure travelers. Located in the heart of Dong Hoi, the hotel will offer state-of-the-art facilities, including meeting spaces, a fitness center, and an executive lounge, making it a hub for both work and relaxation.
Strengthening IHG’s Presence in Vietnam
IHG’s expansion into Quang Binh is part of its broader strategy to double its footprint in Vietnam, a market it identifies as having strong growth potential. Currently, IHG operates 18 hotels across six brands in Vietnam, with 26 more properties in the pipeline, including the debut of its Vignette Collection, Hotel Indigo, and Holiday Inn Express brands.
Thang Hoang, CEO of Hai Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company and VRIC, highlighted the significance of this partnership: “We have found the perfect partner in IHG, which is providing us with great value through its global expertise and systems. The entry of voco hotels and Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts in Quang Binh will elevate the attraction of the destination for travelers to stay and explore its many wonders.”
Quang Binh, traditionally a domestic-led destination, is poised to grow its appeal on the international stage. The new IHG properties are expected to draw more visitors to the region, offering them world-class accommodations and the chance to explore Vietnam’s hidden treasures.
