InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has announced the opening of its newest luxury property, InterContinental Indianapolis.
Located in the city’s downtown at 17 West Market Street, InterContinental Indianapolis is steps from the iconic Monument Circle and the Indiana State Capitol.
This five-star hotel is the city’s first new luxury accommodation in two decades.
Housed in the historic Illinois Building, the 170-room property blends contemporary elegance with preserved architectural details from its 100-year-old structure. After undergoing a $120 million restoration, the hotel features opulent suites, a rooftop bar, and upscale dining experiences, setting a new benchmark for refined stays in downtown Indianapolis.
With the city’s hospitality scene expanding, the arrival of InterContinental Indianapolis is a major milestone. The property offers an exclusive Penthouse Suite with private access, the city’s first luxury rooftop cocktail bar, and 5,000 square feet of event space, making it an attractive destination for both visitors and locals.

The Illinois Building was once listed as one of Indiana’s 10 most endangered landmarks before its acquisition by Keystone Group. Restoring its granite and limestone façade, while integrating modern enhancements, resulted in a stunning blend of historic craftsmanship and contemporary luxury.
Guests entering through the ornate brass doors are greeted by bespoke Murano chandeliers, alabaster paneling, and a three-story hand-blown glass chandelier, all designed to showcase Indianapolis’ rich cultural heritage.
In-room amenities elevate the guest experience, with Bal D’Afrique-scented bath products by BYREDO, Black Label BeautyRest mattresses, Nespresso machines, and curated mini-bars.
