Two extraordinary Swiss hotels are now adding to the portfolio of the luxury hotel group Kempinski Hotels.
The new additions are the first five-star luxury hotel in Engelberg, Kempinski Palace Engelberg – Titlis Swiss Alps, which is nearing completion and will welcome discerning guests from all over the world in the heart of Engelberg from spring 2021; and the two hotels on Frutt in Melchsee-Frutt, which will benefit from the international management know-how and worldwide distribution network of Kempinski Hotels and be managed from the coming winter season by Kempinski.
“We are delighted to be adding these two outstanding hotels to the portfolio of our international hotel chain in the future,” said Martin R. Smura, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Executive Board of Kempinski Hotels at the signing of the management contract with the owners.
“The elegant Palace Hotel with its long history more than lives up to our brand promise of the highest product and service quality and fits perfectly with other Kempinski flagships, such as Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin. With this jewel, which continues the history of the Swiss Grand Hotels, we are continuing the selective expansion of our company as part of our long-term strategy.”
From spring next year, guests at Kempinski Palace Engelberg can look forward to 129 elegant rooms and suites made of high-quality materials, an exceptional range of gastronomy and a spa and wellness area with an infinity pool on 880 sq m on the top floor of the luxury hotel with a panoramic view over Engelberg. Historical features of the former building dating from 1904 were preserved in close cooperation with the monument conservation authorities. With its special flair, the historic Kursaal, for example, has been integrated functionally and architecturally into the building ensemble – certainly another drawcard for the attractive Engelberg tourist region. The lively destination is easily and conveniently accessible by car or train or via Zurich airport, both in summer and winter.
The second new addition to Kempinski Hotels is also very impressive: The hotels on Frutt in the small holiday area of Melchsee-Frutt located in the middle of Central Switzerland, close to Lucerne. Since 2011 and 2016 respectively guests have been welcomed in the two modern hotel buildings at 2,000 metres directly on Lake Melchsee. While the main building scores with a unique spa landscape on 900 sq m and offers 63 rooms, one junior suite and three suites in an authentic lodge ambience, the more family-oriented hotel building impresses with alpine cosiness and features 33 rooms, four junior suites and ten suites. Facilities are rounded off by a bowling alley, a cinema and a kids’ club. The inspiring meeting infrastructure with its panoramic view sets the ideal surroundings for seminars, banquets and weddings. An underground passageway provides a comfortable connection between the hotel buildings.
“The elegant Palace in Engelberg and the modern and comfortable mountain hotels on Melchsee blend perfectly into the variety of outstanding Kempinski hotels we offer to discerning guests around the globe,” added Amanda Elder, Chief Commercial Officer and Board Member Kempinski Hotels.
“With our longstanding expertise in managing deluxe properties, we will definitely be able to contribute to the success of these attractive Swiss mountain destinations and uplift performance with our global sales and marketing network activities.”
