Although music’s biggest night may be taking place in L.A.’s Staples Center, an arts-inspired hotel in Los Cabos is celebrating music all year round.
Hotel El Ganzo, Los Cabos’ one-of-a-kind culture-curated boutique hotel, has always had music at the heart of its mission, touting an underground recording studio and popular concert and video series. The hotel is now taking that mission to the new year with an expanded music program and the first slate of artists set to take its rooftop stage in 2019, just in time for the 61st annual Grammy Awards.
El Ganzo music director and music industry veteran Mark Rudin is the tastemaker behind the hotel’s eclectic musical bent, emphasizing diversity in sound and culture for each year’s roster. Booked to take the stage early this year are electronic group Mexican Institute of Sound; Mexican folk singer/songwriter and five-time Latin Grammy nominee in artist of the year and album of the year category, El David Aguilar; Australian singer/songwriter Cody Simpson; and Mexican indie/funk band Technicolor Fabrics. El Ganzo’s unique musical performance series is only available to ten artists a year, each carefully selected by Rudin.
“Looking back at 2018 we are proud of our diverse lineup, not just musically, but also culturally. Starting with Siddhartha, known as one of Mexico’s most prolific and long-standing artists; Jenny and the Mexicats, a great combination of musicians from Mexico, Spain and the UK; Desi Valentine from London with his classic soul, R&B style; our youngest artist, Los Angeles-born Spencer Ludwig; Salt Cathedral hailing from Colombia; and Dominican, Alex Ferreira, nominated Best New Artist at this year’s Latin Grammys. This is the exact type of musical roster that I envision for El Ganzo year after year, and that makes up the hotel’s DNA and soundtrack,” said Rudin.
”El Ganzo, an epicenter for the arts, is proud to promote the best creatives in the industry and make Grammy winners like Natalia Lafourcade, Stephane Wremble, and Eric Krasno, and nominees like El David Aguilar and Alex Ferreira accessible to our guests,” said General Manager Ella Messerli.
Hotel El Ganzo is building a new breed of accommodations for experience-oriented travelers and artistically minded bon vivants seeking a hotel that is a destination in itself. The hotel establishes its cultural leanings from the minute guests walk in, with music playing throughout the property and ever-changing art splashed on décor, Instagram-worthy walls, and guest suites. This means no visit is ever the same as the hotel functions as a canvas for artists to rework and reinterpret.
Visiting artists are also encouraged to #StayForStudio. An exclusive and vetted program for music industry professionals. The program’s expansion comes after a pivotal year of milestones for the program, including reaching more than five million views and fifteen thousand subscribers on Hotel El Ganzo’s official YouTube music channel and the hotel’s most successful concert yet by Latin Grammy-nominated Dominican pop artist Alex Ferreira.
Just 20 minutes from San Jose International Airport lies an artist haven without comparison. Hotel El Ganzo exudes a cool, barefoot elegance from the tip of its rooftop sushi bar, to the edge of the dramatic infinity pool overlooking Marina Puerto Los Cabos, and right down into the underground recording studio, where resident artists and visiting performers work their magic. Hotel El Ganzo, a leader in sustainable travel, is a Platinum member of The Center for Responsible Travel (CREST) and a hotel partner of conscious travel booking site Kind Traveler.
