September 15th marks the 761st birthday of the legendary explorer who spent over two decades travelling from his hometown of Venice, Italy to China. All Marco Polo hotels will be initiating internal activities, promotions and events at their respective locations, while implementing digital marketing across Greater China to celebrate this milestone event that has never been executed by the group before.
Ultimately, the Italian merchant journeyed almost 24,000 kilometres over land and sea. Marco Polo hotels embody the ethos of discovery, creating unique guest experiences and drawing on the key philosophies of the legendary explorer, global traveller, entrepreneur and connoisseur of culture – just as Marco Polo’s modern travellers are today.
As an appreciation for its worldly travellers, the group will be unveiling a surprise offer that will be announced at 00:01 on September 15th. The special will only be available for 24 hours and will be sure to delight the present-day explorers. A digital announcement teaser will be issued a week before the special day to approximately 300,000 Marco Polo global travellers to inform them of this milestone event.
Coinciding with the group’s Hong Kong roadshow that will be held during the same week, there will also be a Client Appreciation event held at Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel that evening. Over 150 guests will be entertained by an eclectic mix of celebratory Italian and Asian music, Venetian and Chinese opera, a delicious selection of Italian and Asian dishes, and games and activities to be enjoyed by all, with representatives from each hotel present to partake in the festivities. There are also rumours that Marco Polo himself will grace the event.
