Two of the Nordic region’s travel industry giants, SAS and Scandic Hotels, are joining forces to offer exclusive loyalty benefits to their members, starting in early 2025.
Through a newly signed strategic and commercial partnership, the collaboration aims to elevate the travel and hospitality experience for millions of customers.
Under the program called “Friends with benefits,” SAS EuroBonus members and Scandic Friends members will enjoy seamless integration between the two loyalty programs. The partnership is designed to offer enhanced benefits across shared touchpoints, including status matching and a streamlined point conversion process.
Members of both programs will be able to enjoy exclusive perks that will make traveling and hotel stays more rewarding.
The collaboration will launch its initial phase in the first quarter of 2025, allowing for status matching between the EuroBonus and Scandic Friends programs.
This feature will be followed by a streamlined process for point conversion, making it easier for members to transfer and redeem points for hotel stays, flights, and other travel services.
More benefits and enhancements are expected to roll out throughout the year, further improving the loyalty experience for travelers.
Jens Mathiesen, President and CEO of Scandic Hotels Group, emphasized the value of the partnership, saying, “The agreement between Scandic and SAS demonstrates the power that the leading players in Nordic hospitality have to create value for millions of travelers. This partnership provides strong incentives to choose both Scandic and SAS for future hotel and flight bookings, as well as for travel experiences.”
Similarly, Anko van der Werff, President and CEO of SAS, expressed excitement over the partnership.
“We’re thrilled to launch this partnership with Scandic, one of the most iconic Scandinavian hotel brands. Together, we’re combining the strengths of two trusted Scandinavian brands to deliver even greater rewards and exclusive benefits both in the air and on the ground.”
SAS EuroBonus, one of the most prominent loyalty programs in the Nordics with nearly 8 million members, will see its offering expanded through this collaboration with Scandic. EuroBonus members will continue to enjoy benefits such as access to lounges, fast track services, and priority boarding, along with the ability to earn points for flights, upgrades, and now hotel stays and other travel-related services.
For Scandic Friends, the partnership introduces even more reasons to stay loyal to the brand. With over 3 million members, Scandic Friends will offer its loyal customers expanded options for redeeming points and enhancing their travel experiences across the Nordic region.
The new partnership between SAS and Scandic is set to create a more integrated and seamless experience for both hotel guests and air travelers, building stronger engagement within the loyalty programs of both brands.
As the collaboration unfolds in 2025, frequent travelers across the Nordics will have much to look forward to, including exclusive offers, enhanced travel flexibility, and unique benefits that reward loyalty to both SAS and Scandic.
With over 11 million members combined, the partnership is expected to deliver a highly competitive advantage for both companies, creating new value and convenience for customers.
