Thailand’s leading hotel operator Centara Unveils Five New Properties

Thailand’s leading hospitality group, Centara Hotels & Resorts, has announced the addition of five distinctive properties to its diverse portfolio, strengthening its footprint in Thailand and Vietnam and setting the stage for strategic growth initiatives both domestically and overseas.

In Thailand, the Centara Villas Phi Phi Island will reopen in October 2024, offering 40 villas, an all-day dining restaurant, a sunset sky bar, an outdoor swimming pool, and pool bar, spa, fitness centre, and an onsite mini shop.

Its Tiva Ao Makham Resort Phuket is a greenfield project set to redefine health-focused travel with exceptional facilities including yoga, cycling, and a Pilates reformer studio, as well as a sauna, steam room, and onsen. Offering 68 rooms along Phuket’s southeastern coast, this will be Centara’s 11th hotel in Phuket and the newest edition to its Boutique Collection.

In Vietnam, Centara is set to open two exceptional properties in Vung Tau City, a popular destination along the southern coast in Q1 of 2027. The 261-key Centara Life Vung Tau will offer an all-day dining restaurant, modern meeting rooms, swimming pools, a pool bar, a fully equipped fitness centre, spa, and kids’ club. Meanwhile, Centara Residence Dio Dua will offer 536 rooms, a fitness centre, a swimming pool, and a dedicated kids club.

Adding to the allure of Van Don as a premier tourist destination in northern Vietnam, Crystal Holidays Harbor Van Don will be opening a second tower in Q2 2025 as part of its plan to develop 5 hotel and resort apartment buildings within its 5-star resort and entertainment complex, Complementing the existing Centara-branded Tower A, which boasts a dedicated purpose-built convention centre, Tower B will comprise 496 rooms along with a variety of dining options, a state-of-the-art fitness centre, and inviting swimming pools.

These new additions not only mark a promising start to the year but also exemplify Centara Hotels & Resorts’ dedication to providing unique experiences characterised by world-class hospitality, exceptional service, and the warmth of Thai family values in stunning destinations across the globe.

Centara opened three new properties comprising 899 keys in 2023. These included Centara Grand Hotel Osaka, a 33-storey urban landmark that marked the group’s debut in Japan.  The 515-key hotel is conveniently located in Namba, the city’s entertainment and shopping district, with easy access to Universal Studios Japan.

Centara also reaffirmed its leading position in Thailand with the launch of two new properties in 2023: Centara Ubon, its first hotel in the northeastern gateway city of Ubon Ratchathani and its newest property, Centara Ayutthaya, which opened in December 2023, and nestled in the heart of Thailand’s historic former capital of Ayutthaya. The 224-key hotel is a one-hour drive from Bangkok and less than 15 minutes from Ayutthaya’s UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Centara Hotels & Resorts has in recent years pursued an asset-light expansion strategy through acquiring management contracts from other property owners in Thailand and overseas. The company also acquires ownership of other properties when suitable opportunities arise. Currently, Centara Hotels & Resorts has more than 90 hotels in a portfolio both in operation and pipeline in 14 countries: Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Maldives, China, Qatar, Oman, UAE, Turkey, Japan and Myanmar.
