Virginia’s Legendary Lansdowne Resort and Spa Rejoins Benchmark Resorts & Hotels Portfolio

BENCHMARK®, a global hospitality company, announced the return of Virginia’s Lansdowne Resort and Spa to its Benchmark Resorts & Hotels portfolio.

The award-winning property is located in Leesburg, just 30 miles from Washington, DC and 15 minutes from Dulles International Airport, in Virginia’s bucolic wine and equestrian country. Lansdowne Resort and Spa joins two sister Virginia properties, including the historic Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center in the Blue Ridge Mountains and The Inn at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, as part of Benchmark Resorts & Hotels.

“We are delighted to expand our presence in Virginia with the return of this celebrated resort,” said Benchmark CEO Alex Cabañas. “Its impressive facilities, recreational options and location in one of America’s most scenic and historically rich areas, will offer the kind of experiential and unique travel, meeting and event opportunities that Benchmark is known to provide in each of our locations.”

Set on 476 lush acres along the banks of the Potomac River, Lansdowne Resort and Spa was originally opened by Benchmark in 1991. The property then and now combines traditional Virginia Hospitality with contemporary amenities and a sophisticated style to create a singular and authentic Virginia experience. Lansdowne features 296 newly renovated guest rooms including 14 suites, four distinct restaurant and bar concepts, 55,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space, 45 holes of championship golf, water sports, tennis and the 12,000 sq. ft. Spa Minérale, which offers an enriching, restorative environment that emphasizes wellness and a deep connection to nature.

The spectacular Virginia getaway has been recognized with an array of prestigious travel awards including the AAA Four Diamond Award, Conde Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Award, Virginia Living’s Best of Virginia, the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence and The Knot’s Best of DC Weddings.

Lansdowne Resort and Spa to Introduce the Harmony Model Wellness Program in 2019

Through collaboration with the World Health Science Organization, Lansdowne Resort and Spa will in the coming year develop and present wellness programs based on a blend of Eastern and Western health principles and practices called the Harmony Model.  As the Harmony Model evolves, Lansdowne Resort will add components including a major Harmony-themed botanical garden and wellness programs featuring the spa, golf courses and cuisine.  “We are excited to join the Benchmark portfolio and develop Lansdowne Resort into a national resort destination offering wellness and Harmony concepts built around an exceptional guest experience,” said Lansdowne Resort’s Managing Director Joel Paige.  “Our partnership with the Harmony Model, led by Dr. William Lang, who formerly served as Director of the White House Medical Unit and deputy physician to President George W. Bush and President Bill Clinton, will help people achieve optimal health status.”

The resort will also offer Weekend Wellness Retreats for individuals and groups with programs that are customized to provide a guide to healthier and more fulfilling lifestyles. All wellness weekend retreat offerings utilize the Harmony concepts of East-West fusion, and are offered in the inspiring setting of Lansdowne Resort and Spa.

“As people apply Harmony principles to address the root causes of disease, they rely less and less on having to enter the western ‘disease care system’ and instead focus on their personal self-service model,” said Lang.  Echoing the World Health Organization founding principle, he noted that “Health is not the absence of illness, but a status of perfect body and mind for which people must take their own primary responsibility.”

Lansdowne Resort and Spa is located in Loudoun County, the gateway to Virginia’s Wine Country, and recently designated as one of the 10 Best Wine Travel Destinations by Wine Enthusiast magazine. Lansdowne Resort is within a half-hour drive of several Northern Virginia attractions, including Civil War battlefields, historical landmarks, national parks and quality outlet shopping. The Blue Ridge Mountains grace the landscape to the west, and Washington, D.C., with all its attractions, is less than an hour away to the east.
