Tiziano Botta, a chef with over twenty years of experience across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Australia, has recently been appointed as the executive sous chef at Alma, a renowned beachfront family resort. Swiss-born Botta brings his extensive culinary expertise to Alma, located on Vietnam’s picturesque Cam Ranh peninsula, where he will play a pivotal role in managing the resort’s diverse gastronomic offerings across its 14 dining venues.
At Alma, Botta will oversee a variety of dining experiences, including the beachfront Atlantis restaurant, known for its fresh, locally-sourced seafood, the Italian trattoria La Casa, and the Alma Food Court, which offers a mix of local and international flavors. These establishments are part of the culinary landscape that Botta will be responsible for enhancing.
Prior to his new role at Alma, Botta contributed his skills as the executive sous chef during the pre-opening phase of The Heart of Europe in Dubai, where he supervised the food outlets of this significant development. His rich background also includes a stint as the executive sous chef at the Waldorf Astoria in Kuwait, also during its pre-opening. Botta’s career has seen him in roles such as executive chef at the Royal Sands Koh Rong in Cambodia and executive sous chef at both London’s 45 Park Lane, part of the Dorchester Collection, and Suvretta House in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
Botta’s journey in the culinary world began with an apprenticeship at Hotel des Balance in Luzern, Switzerland. He started as a commis chef at Le Grand Bellevue Gstaad and progressed through various esteemed positions, including chef de partie at the two Michelin-starred Gaggan in Thailand, with the Caminada restaurant brand in Switzerland, and at Peter Gilmore’s Quay Restaurant in Sydney.
In addition to his practical experience, Botta is academically accomplished, holding two postgraduate degrees in culinary arts and hotel management. A true global citizen, he has traveled to over 90 countries and is proficient in five languages.
Ingo Stöneberg, Alma’s executive assistant manager, praised Botta as a “highly organized professional” with an impressive track record. Stöneberg is confident that Botta will not only maintain the high quality and consistency of food at Alma but also effectively train the staff to realize their full potential.
