Bankside Hotel Appoints Philip Steiner

The design-forward hotel Bankside Hotel in the heart of London’s cultural hub of Southbank has announced the appointment of Philip Steiner as General Manager.

Having studied Hospitality Management at the International Hotel School in The Hague, Philip started his career at Rome Cavalieri, Italy, followed by several years with Hilton and then Starwood hotels in The Netherlands via facility management firm ISS. Moving to the UK in 2014, Philip’s career progressed as he took on the role of Director of Hotels for ISS, managing a sizeable team looking after the back of house services for 150+ UK hotels, including some of the top five-star hotels in London. Since joining Cycas Hospitality in 2018, Philip took on the role of Director of Accommodations & Serviced Apartments, before becoming General Manager for Moxy & Residence Inn by Marriott Slough, successfully opening two hotels outside London at the height of the pandemic.

On joining Bankside, Philip comments ‘’I am thrilled to be joining the team at Bankside. The hotel has such strong links with the local community and artists – especially through its Artist in Residence programme – and this new role presents a unique opportunity for me to combine my hospitality experience with my passion for art and my fascination with the London cultural and hospitality and food scene.’’

On the appointment, Apurva Pratap, MD of Cycas Hospitality, said: “We are delighted to have appointed Philip as General Manager at Bankside. Over the past few years he has proved himself an invaluable member of the Cycas team, and we look forward to seeing how Philip continues to build on the success of this vibrant hotel, maximising its full potential in 2023 and beyond”.

Philip joins Bankside at an exciting time as he oversees a new brand partnership with Black Cow Vodka, creating an exclusive cocktail for the Christmas period and hopefully signing on in the new year. Earlier this year, Cycas Hospitality, Europe’s leading hospitality management company, was appointed to manage Bankside Hotel. This marked the first luxury property in Cycas’ fast-growing portfolio.
