Africa is stepping up its efforts towards climate action and sustainable tourism with the establishment of a high-powered board to oversee the Sayari Dunia Sustainable Tourism Foundation.
Alain St.Ange, former Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports, and Marine of Seychelles, and Head of the Saint Ange Tourism Consultancy, has been appointed as a board member of this non-profit and non-governmental organization.
The Sayari Dunia Sustainable Tourism Foundation is playing a pivotal role in driving a movement towards greener and more sustainable tourism development in Africa. Through its climate action programs that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the foundation is spearheading initiatives to create a more sustainable future for the tourism industry in Africa.
Alain St.Ange, renowned for his expertise in tourism and culture, joins a distinguished group of personalities on the prestigious board. This includes Ms. Abigail Adesina Olagbaye, the Chairman of the foundation, Mohammed Mezghani, the Secretary-General of the International Association of Public Transport UITP, Hisham Zaazou, former tourism minister of Egypt, Ishanlosen Odiaua, a senior social development specialist at the World Bank and president of the International Council of Museums and Monuments (ICOMOS) Advisory Committee, and Kazeem Sanusi, a systems and cities expert and CEO of KFSP.
Expressing his gratitude for the appointment, Alain St.Ange shared his commitment to the sustainable tourism cause. Having been involved in tourism consultancy work across Africa and Asia, and actively advocating for sustainable tourism and climate change, St.Ange’s contributions have been recognized by various organizations and resulted in his appointment to boards and foundations supporting the tourism industry.
