AEGEAN Orders Eight More Airbus A321neo Aircraft

AEGEAN, the largest Greek airline, has confirmed an order for eight additional Airbus A321neo aircraft, reinforcing its commitment to fleet expansion and long-term growth.

This latest deal increases AEGEAN’s total direct Airbus A320neo Family order to 60 aircraft, with 37 already delivered. The new jets will support the airline’s ongoing efforts to expand its network and enhance operational efficiency.

Dimitris Gerogiannis, AEGEAN’s Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the strategic importance of the order, emphasizing the airline’s preference for the larger-capacity and extended-range A321neo. “The expansion of our investment plan with the additional order of eight Airbus A321neo aircraft is essential for achieving our growth objectives and further enhancing the competitiveness of our operations.”

The Airbus A321neo is the largest member of the A320neo Family, known for its fuel efficiency, extended range, and passenger comfort. Equipped with new-generation engines and Sharklets, the aircraft offers over 20% fuel savings and reduced CO₂ emissions compared to previous-generation single-aisle aircraft. These features align with AEGEAN’s sustainability goals, making the A321neo a key asset in its fleet strategy.

Airbus is also working toward making its aircraft 100% compatible with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) by 2030, further supporting the airline’s environmental initiatives.

Expanding AEGEAN’s Route Network

The A321neo’s extended range allows AEGEAN to expand both domestic and international routes, providing passengers with more direct connections and greater flexibility. With the airline’s focus on growth across Europe and beyond, the additional aircraft will help increase capacity on high-demand routes while maintaining cost efficiency.

Benoit de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business, welcomed AEGEAN’s decision to invest further in the A321neo. “We are delighted that AEGEAN has once again chosen the fuel-efficient A321neo. This decision underscores AEGEAN’s commitment to operational excellence and enhancing the passenger experience.”

AEGEAN’s Future Growth Strategy

AEGEAN Airlines has been strategically expanding its fleet and network, strengthening its position as Greece’s largest airline. The additional Airbus A321neo jets will allow the carrier to keep up with increasing passenger demand and further enhance its competitive edge in the European market.

With over 6,800 A321neo aircraft ordered by more than 85 customers worldwide, AEGEAN joins a growing number of airlines recognizing the aircraft’s value in fuel efficiency, operational cost savings, and long-haul capabilities.

As AEGEAN prepares for its next phase of expansion, the latest A321neo order signals confidence in the airline’s future, ensuring it remains at the forefront of European aviation while delivering a superior travel experience.
