Air Albania Launches Vienna-Tirana Route

The flight network at Vienna Airport continues to expand with the arrival of Air Albania, the country’s national airline, which has officially launched a new Vienna-Tirana route.

Albania is an emerging travel destination, offering visitors a diverse mix of experiences, from the vibrant city life of Tirana to stunning coastal areas, turquoise-blue waters, and the breathtaking Albanian Alps.

Air Albania now operates two weekly flights on the Vienna-Tirana route, utilizing an Airbus A320. The official inauguration of this new route was marked by a photo session featuring representatives from both companies, celebrating this significant partnership.

“Tirana is the new trendy destination on the Balkans and can now be reached more easily! Tourism in Albania is booming and demand for flights is steadily rising. In 2024, we registered a 40% increase in passenger volume between Vienna and Tirana. With Air Albania, the country’s flag carrier is represented in Vienna for the very first time. This strengthens our route network and makes Vienna even more attractive as a business and tourism location. As the leading flight hub for Southeast Europe, we thus offer even more travel options to one of Europe’s most exciting growth regions. Welcome to Vienna Airport, Air Albania!” explains Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.

“We are delighted to further expand our route network with the new connection between Tirana and Vienna. This connection to Austria marks an important milestone in our expansion strategy. Tirana and the whole of Albania are emerging travel destinations and we are proud to support this development. We would like to express our appreciation to Vienna Airport and all our partners who have contributed to the successful realisation of this route. We are convinced that this connection will further strengthen relations between our countries“, states Alper Vardar, Deputy CEO of Air Albania.
