Alaska Airlines Adds Seattle–Seoul Nonstop Route

Alaska Airlines adds Seattle–Seoul nonstop route this September, giving travelers a direct connection between the Pacific Northwest and South Korea’s capital city. Starting September 12, 2025, flights will operate five days a week aboard Hawaiian Airlines’ widebody Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

Tickets are already on sale through both alaskaair.com and hawaiianairlines.com. The new route marks an exciting milestone for Alaska Airlines as it continues expanding international offerings through its growing global hub in Seattle.

This launch also coincides with Chuseok, a major holiday in South Korea similar to Thanksgiving. The new flight schedule will make it easier for travelers to visit loved ones during one of the country’s most cherished celebrations. Chuseok falls in early October this year, just a few weeks after service begins.

Flights will depart from Seattle at 3:25 p.m. and arrive at Seoul Incheon at 6:50 p.m. the following day, local time. Return flights leave Seoul at 8:50 p.m. and land in Seattle at 3:00 p.m. the same day. The schedule includes service on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from Seattle, and on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from Seoul.

With this latest addition, Alaska Airlines and its partner Hawaiian Airlines are transforming Seattle into a premier international hub. By 2030, Alaska plans to operate at least 12 nonstop international routes from Seattle, including flights to Seoul and Tokyo Narita. In fact, daily nonstop flights from Seattle to Tokyo are set to begin even sooner—on May 12, 2025.

Seattle is already Alaska’s largest hub, offering 104 nonstop routes across North America. Now, with new long-haul international routes, the airline is creating seamless connections between U.S. cities and destinations across Asia.

Andrew Harrison, chief commercial officer at Alaska Airlines, said the expansion is part of a broader plan to serve travelers heading to dynamic destinations. “With our robust network, we can connect our guests through our global gateway in Seattle for convenient nonstop service to Seoul and Tokyo, with additional connections to other Asian destinations with our global partners.”

Travelers heading to Seoul can look forward to Hawaiian Airlines’ award-winning service, known for its warm hospitality and thoughtful onboard experience. The Airbus A330-200 features spacious cabins and in-flight entertainment for a comfortable journey across the Pacific.

In the future, Alaska Airlines plans to upgrade the Seattle–Seoul route with its flagship Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, offering even more comfort and advanced technology for long-haul travel.

This move positions Alaska Airlines as a key player in the West Coast’s international aviation landscape. As other U.S. cities compete for global connections, Seattle is stepping into the spotlight as a launch point for travel across Asia and beyond.

The Seattle–Seoul connection is especially meaningful for travelers with personal, cultural, or business ties to South Korea. It also opens the door for U.S.-based tourists looking to explore the country’s unique blend of ancient heritage and modern innovation. From bustling night markets in Seoul to serene temples and scenic landscapes, South Korea offers a wide range of experiences for visitors.

For those planning fall trips, the timing is ideal. The September launch means travelers can take advantage of mild autumn weather in Korea and enjoy cultural festivals, vibrant foliage, and authentic cuisine. Whether you’re headed to reconnect with family or discover a new destination, the new nonstop route makes the journey easier than ever.

Looking ahead, Alaska Airlines is expected to announce additional global routes that will strengthen its international presence and offer travelers more direct options from Seattle to key destinations around the world. With a focus on comfort, convenience, and connectivity, the airline’s international expansion is well underway—and Seoul is just the beginning.
