Avelo Launches Daytona Beach – New Haven Flights

Ultra Low-Cost Airline Avelo announced new, direct flights from the Daytona Beach International Airport to New Haven, Connecticut.

Avelo will start the new flights on June 22, 2023 and travelers can visit their website now to book their travel.

Flights will be available two days throughout the week, on Thursdays and Sundays.

The startup fare to New Haven is $49 one way.

The new nonstop service could boost the local economy by more than $11 million a year, according to a study commissioned by the airport.

Avelo is considered an ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) and a newcomer to the aviation industry, which took its first inaugural flight from Burbank to Santa Rosa in April of 2021.

After only two years in business, Avelo currently flies to and from 34 destinations and operates 15 different 737 aircrafts.

Avelo co-founder and CEO Andrew Levy, an industry veteran who was chief financial officer at United Airlines and president of Allegiant Travel Co., portrays Avelo as small but mighty.

Executives from Daytona Beach International Airport were at the joint press conference and shared the following remarks regarding the update.

“We are thrilled to welcome Avelo, our airport’s first ultra-low-cost carrier, to Daytona Beach & Volusia County”, said Karen Feaster, Airport Director at Daytona Beach International Airport.

“This service opens our area to a market of travelers who now are only a direct flight away from our beautiful beaches, miles of nature trails and endless opportunities for fun and sun. Plus, our community now has direct flight options to one of our more popular travel regions.”

Avelo plans to add a second, non-stop destination with service to and from Daytona Beach International Airport. That announcement has not yet been made.
