Avianca VIP Lounge Opens at Miami International Airport

Avianca VIP Lounge opens at Miami International Airport as part of the airline’s ongoing strategy to elevate the premium experience for its travelers. Developed in partnership with TAP Air Portugal, the new lounge is now welcoming guests in Concourse J, near Gate J6, and marks Avianca’s 11th VIP lounge worldwide.

The Miami opening represents a major step for Avianca in reinforcing its presence in the U.S. market. Miami International Airport serves as a critical hub for the airline’s operations, with 249 weekly frequencies and 36 routes connecting the U.S. to Latin America. The new lounge is expected to serve over 16,500 travelers throughout 2025, including passengers flying with Avianca, TAP Air Portugal, and select Star Alliance member airlines.

Spanning 6,559 square feet, the VIP lounge accommodates up to 337 guests and features 158 seats. Designed with comfort and functionality in mind, the space offers a blend of quiet zones, business areas, and family-friendly environments. Whether passengers are looking to relax before boarding, get work done, or enjoy a peaceful meal, the lounge delivers an elevated experience from start to finish.

Guests can enjoy round-the-clock access, as the lounge operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Business class passengers with Avianca and TAP Air Portugal, as well as eligible Star Alliance members, can take full advantage of the space and its premium amenities.

Food and beverage offerings in the lounge include breakfast, lunch, and dinner services, with both hot and cold items available throughout the day. Highlights include international favorites as well as a taste of Portugal with dishes like Portuguese pastéis de nata, regional cheeses, soups, and wine selections such as vinho verde, red wine, and port. The space brings a distinct culinary identity to Miami International Airport while catering to the diverse palates of international travelers.

Frederico Pedreira, CEO of Avianca, described the lounge as a key part of the airline’s 2025 premium travel strategy. In addition to the new Miami space, Avianca plans to open two more VIP lounges in the coming year, expand its Business Class Americas network, and introduce new services under its Insignia program. These efforts are part of a larger investment to improve comfort, convenience, and overall service across its global operations.

Mayor Daniella Levine Cava congratulated both Avianca and TAP Air Portugal for their contribution to MIA’s ongoing modernization efforts, which aim to attract international travelers and maintain Miami’s standing as a global gateway.

The lounge is also notable for being TAP Air Portugal’s first VIP lounge outside of Portugal. According to Sofia Lufinha, TAP’s Customer Service Director, the space aims to bring “a little bit of Portugal to life in Miami,” offering guests familiar comforts with a premium twist.

In addition to the enhanced airport experience, Avianca continues to offer access to over 1,400 global destinations through Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline network. Its frequent flyer program, LifeMiles, remains a flexible option for travelers looking to redeem miles for flights, upgrades, and services across multiple international routes.

Located in one of the busiest airports in the United States, the Avianca VIP Lounge in Miami adds a new level of refinement for business travelers and leisure guests alike. The opening reflects the airline’s commitment to premium service and strategic growth in key markets. With more lounges and services on the horizon, Avianca is redefining the pre-flight experience—starting with Miami.
