In June, 2,679,900 passengers took off and landed at Berlin’s Schönefeld and Tegel airports. This represents growth of 4.3 per cent compared to the same period the previous year. In June, 738,314 passengers were recorded at Schönefeld (+11.9 per cent) and 1,941,586 passengers at Tegel (+1.7 per cent).
The number of flight movements in June came to a total of 23,568 take-offs and landings, which represents an increase of 3.3 per cent compared to the same period the previous year. At Schönefeld, the number of flight movements increased to 7,067. This corresponds to an increase of 10.5 per cent compared to the previous year. At Tegel, there was a minor increase in flight movements accounting for 0.5 per cent compared to the previous year. A total of 16,501 flight movements were recorded at Tegel in June.
A total of 13,732,263 passengers used Schönefeld and Tegel airports during the first six months of the year, which represents an increase of 4.3 per cent over the same period the previous year.
Karsten Mühlenfeld, CEO at Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “Almost 10 million passengers in Tegel and nearly 4 million in Schönefeld are very good figures mid-year. And we can be more than satisfied. As passenger figures are continuing to climb, investments also need to be made at both locations. In Tegel, we will invest 19 million Euro in maintenance measures this year. And by investing 3 million Euro in Schönefeld, we will create the requisite conditions for ongoing growth in air traffic.”
Between January and June, 9,943,252 passengers were recorded at Tegel, which is 1.9 per cent more than in the same period the previous year. Schönefeld Airport at the same time handled 3,789,011 passengers, which is 11.2 per cent more than during the same period in 2014.
The number of flight movements rose between January and June to a total of 125,076 take-offs and landings, which represents an increase of 1.6 per cent compared to the same period the previous year. At Schönefeld, the number of flight movements increased to 35,752. This corresponds to an increase of 3.4 per cent compared to the previous year.
