easyJet expands its Scottish network with the announcement of a new route from Glasgow to Milan Malpensa. Thanks to the new year round service, travelers can explore what’s new in the fashion world since Milan is well renowned for its shopping. Armani, Versace, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci are some of the international and world class designers gracing the streets of Milan.
The new year round service, which is expected to carry 26,000 annually, commences on 2 December 2015 and is Glasgow’s first direct connection to Milan. Flights will operate twice weekly on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s with fares starting from £25.49 one way per person.
Scott Taylor, Chief Executive of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: “This is a welcome announcement by easyJet which further demonstrates the airline’s commitment to Glasgow. Italy is Glasgow’s eighth largest international market with 15,000 trips made each year by Italian visitors who generate some £4 million for the city’s economy. This new route presents us with even greater scope to grow in-bound European leisure and business tourism. From one cutting-edge city to another, we look forward to welcoming Milanese travellers to our style mile.”
