Fly to the Beach This Winter with American Airlines

Fly to the beach this winter with American Airlines as the carrier launches new routes and expands service to popular sunny destinations around the world.

Whether you’re dreaming of Caribbean shores, Hawaiian surf, or South American cities, American’s latest winter schedule brings more options than ever before for a warm-weather escape.

Beginning November 8, American will debut new international service from Oklahoma City to Cancun, marking the first time any airline has offered international flights from Oklahoma. Operated on Saturdays with Boeing 737 aircraft, this new route opens up direct access from the heartland of the U.S. to Mexico’s turquoise beaches and Mayan ruins.

Cancun remains a top destination for American. By this winter, the airline will operate over 40 peak-day flights to Cancun from 19 U.S. cities, providing travelers with more flexibility and frequency than any other carrier. The additional capacity makes it easier to plan that tropical getaway, whether it’s for a weekend or a winter-long escape.

Meanwhile, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic is getting a major boost, too. Starting December 6, American Airlines will launch four new Saturday-only routes to this Caribbean hotspot, departing from Indianapolis, Nashville, Pittsburgh, and Raleigh-Durham. Punta Cana, known for its all-inclusive resorts and white sand beaches, now becomes even more accessible to travelers across the Midwest and Southeast U.S.

Recently, Punta Cana took the winning prize in American’s March Map-ness bracket with great fares and a special flash offer. Now, American is giving customers a buzzer beater finish to March with four new routes to the vacation hotspot starting Dec. 6. This winter, with more than 20 peak-day departures to 11 U.S. destinations from PUJ, it’s never too early to start planning the perfect getaway with American’s convenient flights.

In total, American will operate more than 270 peak daily departures to beach destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America this winter—more than any other U.S. airline. These include long-standing favorites and new seasonal offerings designed to meet rising demand for sun-filled escapes during colder months.

The beach expansion doesn’t stop in the Americas. In Hawaii, American will resume service from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Kona (KOA) and increase frequencies to Kahului (OGG), starting November 20. This complements the upcoming launch of daily service between Chicago (ORD) and Honolulu (HNL), beginning October 26. With over 15 daily flights between the continental U.S. and Hawaii this winter, American is set to become a leading choice for travelers headed to the islands.

To make the experience even better, American’s premium cabins on Hawaii-bound flights will feature lie-flat seats and a menu inspired by local flavors, such as island surf and turf with truffle yaki sauce and seared tofu with vegetable curry. Passengers can also enjoy more than 1,500 pieces of complimentary onboard entertainment content.

South America is also part of the winter upgrade. Between December and January, American will operate up to four daily flights between Miami and Buenos Aires, Argentina—its highest-ever frequency on that route. Additionally, service between Dallas-Fort Worth and São Paulo, Brazil, will increase to 10 weekly flights, representing a 40% boost compared to the previous winter. Across the U.S., American will offer up to 10 daily flights to Brazil.

Europe remains a year-round favorite, and American is responding by extending some of its summer routes into the winter season. Flights from Dallas-Fort Worth to Dublin will continue through January 6, while service from New York (JFK) to Barcelona will run until December 2. Philadelphia to Athens flights will also extend through mid-November, allowing travelers to enjoy Europe’s quieter and more affordable low season.

Back in the U.S., American will launch new domestic routes from Los Angeles to Des Moines and from Phoenix to Little Rock starting October 6. These routes provide convenient connections to the airline’s extensive global network, including destinations in Mexico, Australia, and Japan. And for those chasing snow instead of sun, a new seasonal route from Charlotte to Aspen begins December 19, offering easier access to Colorado’s world-class ski slopes.

For travelers eager to make the most of these new routes, American’s AAdvantage® loyalty program offers opportunities to earn miles and status on flights, hotel stays, car rentals, and more. With nearly 1,000 global destinations served by American and its partners, AAdvantage® members can turn every trip into a step toward their next adventure.

With so many new routes, expanded services, and thoughtful in-flight upgrades, American Airlines is making it easier than ever to escape the cold and embrace the beach—or any other winter escape you choose.
