Air Arabia has officially resumed direct flights between Vienna and Sharjah, offering travelers a convenient connection to one of the most culturally rich destinations in the United Arab Emirates.
The low-cost airline will operate four weekly flights on this route, with plans to increase to five per week during the summer of 2025. This route revival comes as part of Air Arabia’s broader effort to expand its European network.
The Airbus A320 aircraft will service the route, ensuring comfort and convenience for passengers. Departures from Sharjah are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, while return flights from Vienna offer flexible options for travelers. On Mondays and Fridays, flights from Sharjah depart at 7:55 a.m., reaching Vienna at 11:20 a.m. The return flight leaves Vienna at 12:10 p.m., arriving back in Sharjah at 8:50 p.m. For Wednesdays and Saturdays, departure from Sharjah is set for 5:45 p.m., with arrival in Vienna at 9:10 p.m., while return flights leave Vienna at 10:10 p.m., landing in Sharjah at 6:50 a.m. the next day.
This marks the return of an essential connection that had been suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic. Speaking at the official resumption event at Vienna Airport were Etienne Berchtold, Austrian Ambassador to the UAE; Michael Tauschmann, Head of Markets Middle East & India at the Austrian National Tourist Office; Shahzad Naqvi, Area Manager of Air Arabia; and Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.
“Air Arabia is bringing a special gift to Vienna shortly before Christmas, namely the return of a direct flight connection to Sharjah!” remarked Julian Jäger, emphasizing the importance of the resumed route. He added that the Vienna-Sharjah route serves a dynamic market, offering Austrian travelers access to the sun-kissed shores of the UAE while opening the door for Emirati travelers to experience Vienna’s festive charm.
Sharjah: The UAE’s Cultural Capital
Travelers flying from Vienna to Sharjah can look forward to discovering one of the UAE’s most unique destinations. Known as the cultural heart of the Emirates, Sharjah offers a blend of rich history, art, and family-friendly attractions. Its iconic Blue Souk is a must-visit, featuring traditional handicrafts and spices that transport visitors to a world of authentic Arabian heritage. Visitors can also explore the city’s historic old town, vibrant waterfront, and numerous museums, making it a compelling alternative to more commercialized Emirati destinations.
Beyond cultural attractions, Sharjah is also known for its family-friendly leisure activities, such as amusement parks, aquariums, and waterfront promenades. For travelers seeking a more meaningful, experience-driven holiday, Sharjah offers the perfect mix of relaxation and exploration.

The decision to operate four weekly flights from December 2024, increasing to five weekly flights in summer 2025, reflects rising demand for travel between Austria and the UAE. Passengers can expect Air Arabia’s signature features onboard the Airbus A320, which includes “SkyTime” — a cost-free streaming service — and the “SkyCafe”, where snacks and meals can be purchased at affordable prices. For loyal customers, the airline’s Air Rewards loyalty program provides opportunities to earn and redeem points on future bookings.
With the return of the Vienna-Sharjah route, travelers have more choices for affordable, convenient travel to one of the UAE’s most fascinating emirates.
