German airline Lufthansa has announced that it will restart its Munich-Izmir flights in the summer of 2025, bringing back a long-anticipated route for travelers between Germany and Turkey.
The service—last operated until September 2022—will return for a limited summer season, running from July 4 to September 14, 2025.
The route will operate five times a week using Airbus A320 aircraft, providing a convenient option for both leisure and business travelers. Flight LH2646 will depart Munich at 22:30, landing in Izmir at 02:00 the following day. The return flight, LH2647, will take off from Izmir at 03:50, arriving in Munich at 05:30. Flights will be available on most days, except for Tuesdays and Thursdays from Munich to Izmir and Wednesdays and Saturdays from Izmir to Munich.
A Welcome Comeback for Travelers
The revival of this route is expected to benefit both Turkish and German travelers, as Izmir remains a key destination for tourism and family visits. Known for its stunning Aegean coastline, rich history, and vibrant culture, Izmir attracts thousands of visitors each year, many of whom rely on direct flights for a smooth journey.
Munich, as Lufthansa’s hub, also serves as a key connection point for passengers traveling from across Europe and beyond. The return of this route offers enhanced travel flexibility for those heading to Turkey’s third-largest city, whether for business, tourism, or visiting family and friends.
Lufthansa Expands Summer Network
Lufthansa’s decision to reinstate the Munich-Izmir route reflects the growing demand for travel between Germany and Turkey, particularly during the summer months. The airline continues to refine its seasonal offerings, ensuring travelers have more options during peak periods.
With this direct connection back on the schedule, passengers can once again enjoy a seamless, nonstop flight between Munich and Izmir, avoiding layovers and long travel times.
