New SAS Route: Daily Nonstop Flights from Copenhagen to Atlanta

To meet the growing demand for travel between Scandinavia and the United States, SAS is expanding its North American network with a new destination.

Starting on June 17th, SAS will offer daily nonstop flights from Copenhagen to Atlanta, providing customers with a direct route to the U.S.

Atlanta is a city worth visiting, offering rich cultural experiences, historic landmarks, diverse culinary delights, and a thriving sports scene. In 2023, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport handled nearly 104 million passengers, making it the world’s busiest and most efficient airport. On September 1, 2024, SAS will join SkyTeam, which will enhance connectivity for its customers through Delta Air Lines, a major SkyTeam member based in Atlanta. This membership will give SAS customers seamless access to over 1,060 destinations across all SkyTeam member airlines.

“SAS is excited to expand its offerings for both business and leisure travelers. Leisure travelers can look forward to exploring Atlanta and several new destinations across the USA, all conveniently accessible from Atlanta. For business travelers, Atlanta serves as a significant hub, home to numerous Fortune 500 companies, making it a lucrative and essential destination,” says SAS Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Verhagen.

“Working closely with SAS will further strengthen Delta’s presence in Northern Europe by offering our customers improved access to destinations,” says Alain Bellemare, Delta’s E.V.P. & President – International. “Our bilateral agreement is integral to our long-term strategy to better connect Delta customers around the world and SAS’ new nonstop service between Atlanta and Copenhagen, one of their primary European hubs, is a strong start in building our future cooperation.”

SAS will operate the route with both Airbus A330 and A350 aircraft. Both aircraft types offer three travel classes: SAS Business, SAS Plus, and SAS Go, ensuring a comfortable journey for all passengers.

With this new route, SAS is enhancing travel options for its customers and strengthening its position in the North American market. This move will provide greater connectivity and convenience for travelers between Scandinavia and the U.S., opening up new opportunities for exploration and business.
