Orlando International Airport (MCO) announced that its record passenger growth continued in July 2015. For the month of July traffic was up 8.2 percent compared to 2014. Record numbers of international passengers fueled the growth. International volume increased 19.5 percent in July.
“We are averaging over 112 thousand passengers every day. These are numbers typically associated with peak holiday traffic, however we are seeing this level of activity year-round,” says Frank Kruppenbacher, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “We can anticipate this robust growth continuing with new service launches by Emirates Airline to Dubai and Icelandair to Keflavik in September.
July Statistical Data:
Domestic passenger traffic increased 6.5 percent with 2,981,559 total passengers
International traffic grew 19.5 percent with 494,830 total passengers in July
Overall passenger traffic grew by 8.2 percent with a total of 3,476,389 travelers moving through MCO in July
On a rolling 12 month basis, Orlando International is on track for a record breaking year with 37,335,163 passengers as of July which represents a 6.6 percent increase over last year.
The international growth is expected to continue in August and September as Thomas Cook Airlines begins once a week service to Cardiff, England; Emirates Airlines begins daily service to Dubai and Icelandair begins service to Keflavik, Iceland four-days-a-week.
