Orlando Airport

Orlando is No.1 Thanksgiving Destination in 2022

According to AAA, Orlando is the number one destination in the country this Thanksgiving holiday travel period and traffic at Orlando International Airport (MCO) reflects that ranking.

Passenger traffic is at a record high, parking garages and surface parking lots are almost at total capacity and rental car companies are trying a new approach to meet a growing demand for service at Terminal C.

Halfway through the 12-day Thanksgiving travel period and Orlando International is facing a very rare challenge, almost all parking at the airport is full. It is suggested that passengers seek alternative transportation to the airport. Being dropped off via ride shares, family and friends and taxis are your best options at this point.

Due to a high volume of traffic, parking is nearing full capacity at the airport. It is suggested travelers seek alternative means of being dropped off at the airport to avoid parking.

Travelers are advised to monitor the airport’s social media sites and webpage for the latest on parking availability at MCO.

To meet growing demand for rental cars at Terminal C, rental car companies have installed counters on level 6, next to the bag claims area. Simply claim your luggage, walk a very short distance for rental car processing and then it is just a few steps to the shuttle bus for transport to pick up your vehicle in terminals A and B.

All rental car companies are now accepting rental car returns at Terminal C for those catching flights from Terminal C.

MCO continues to exceed travel volume expectations for the holiday. Provide yourself at least three hours of time in the terminal to catch all domestic and international flights.

The busiest travel day of the Thanksgiving period is still to come. This Saturday, the 26th , MCO is expecting more than 165,100 passengers. Sunday the 27th, will be the third busiest with more than 158,500 and Monday the 28th will be the 4th busiest with approximately 151,000 travelers at MCO.
