SAS Summer 2025 marks the airline’s most ambitious expansion to date, adding 28 new routes across 17 countries and boosting total seat capacity to 23 million.
The new schedule, which includes intercontinental and regional additions, aims to elevate connectivity across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East—anchored by a strengthened hub at Copenhagen Airport.
With 2.2 million more seats than last year, Scandinavian Airlines is set to operate 278 routes in total for the season. Most of these new flights will depart from Copenhagen, supported by an expanded schedule from Oslo, Stockholm, and other Scandinavian cities. This expansion reinforces SAS’s strategy to position Copenhagen as a key gateway linking Northern Europe with global destinations.
Among the notable new routes are direct connections from Copenhagen to Seoul (four weekly flights), Seattle (five weekly flights), and Beirut (three weekly departures from Copenhagen and two from Stockholm). These additions enhance SAS’s long-haul reach and support growing demand for direct intercontinental service.
In Europe, new destinations include Madrid, Budapest, Krakow, Lyon, Wroclaw, and Nuuk in Greenland. Stockholm will offer new direct flights to Reykjavík and Bodø, while Oslo adds daily service to New York (JFK) and seasonal flights to Rhodes. Bergen also benefits with two weekly connections to Malaga, adding more options for travelers seeking southern sunshine.
The expansion isn’t limited to international routes. In Sweden, domestic connectivity is also receiving a significant boost. With a 54% increase in domestic flights, SAS strengthens its presence by enhancing access to regional cities. New routes to Halmstad and Kalmar, launched earlier this year, are part of this effort, making SAS the leading domestic carrier in Sweden for summer 2025.
The updated schedule also includes increased frequency on several popular routes, including Toronto, Berlin, Florence, and Prague. These service enhancements will deliver 70% more connection opportunities across the 122 destinations linked to the Copenhagen hub, making travel through the region faster and more convenient.
Henrik Winell, Vice President Network at SAS, emphasized the importance of the summer 2025 program in supporting strategic growth: “This summer program represents an important milestone for SAS as we embark on our largest summer expansion ever, introducing 28 new routes and significantly increasing capacity to 23 million seats. By broadening our network and optimizing travel options, we will provide our customers with unparalleled access to destinations across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East, while continuing to consolidate Copenhagen’s role as a European world-class travel hub.”
