Passengers traveling between Seville and Istanbul will soon have daily direct flights, as Pegasus Airlines expands its service starting March 30, 2025.
The decision comes in response to a 244% increase in passenger demand since the launch of the route last September. The announcement was made in Istanbul by the Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, alongside Güliz Öztürk, CEO of Pegasus Airlines.
The move strengthens the strategic connection between Europe and Asia, offering new opportunities for tourism, business, and investment. It also highlights Istanbul’s role as a major aviation hub, providing seamless global connectivity for passengers traveling through Pegasus Airlines’ network.
More Flights, More Growth
The Seville-Istanbul route has quickly established itself as a key international corridor, with over 11,100 Turkish visitors arriving in Seville in 2024, marking a 27% increase from the previous year. Overnight stays by Turkish travelers have also risen by 42%, demonstrating the growing appeal of the Andalusian capital.
Mayor José Luis Sanz emphasized that this flight is “not just a connection between two destinations but a gateway to Asia and the rest of the world” via Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW). He reaffirmed the Seville City Council’s commitment to expanding air connectivity, which he views as critical for tourism, industry, and trade.
A Boost for Business & Investment
Beyond tourism, the daily flights will also deepen economic ties between Spain and Türkiye, supporting businesses across various sectors. The mayor’s visit to Istanbul included a strategic business meeting, where companies from both cities explored new trade and investment opportunities.
Seville has already established commercial partnerships with major companies such as Airbus, Atexis, and Cimsa, which have ongoing business relations with Türkiye. In 2024, the city exported nearly €80 million in goods to Türkiye, mainly in aerospace, foundry, and industrial machinery.
By making travel easier, daily flights could attract more Turkish companies to set up operations in Seville, capitalizing on the city’s expanding business ecosystem.
Seville Prepares for Routes Europe 2025
The expansion of the Seville-Istanbul route comes at a crucial time, as Seville is set to host Routes Europe 2025, one of the most important aviation networking events in Europe. Mayor Sanz expects the event to drive a 10% increase in new flight connections, further enhancing Seville’s position as a major international travel hub.
With Pegasus Airlines increasing Seville-Istanbul flights to daily service, travelers will now enjoy greater flexibility, better connectivity, and more business opportunities between the two culturally rich cities.
