Vietjet launches new routes to Seoul

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of dialogue relations between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and South Korea as well as the Mekong–South Korea summit, new-age carrier Vietjet has officially announced the new route launch and operation plan for its international routes connecting some of Vietnam’s fast-growing tourism destinations, including Da Lat, Can Tho, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc with Seoul.

The announcement was attended by the Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Deputy Prime Minister of South Korea Hong Nam-Ki and senior leaders from both South Korean and Vietnamese governments on 28 November 2019 at the Vietnam–South Korea Business Forum in Seoul, South Korea.

By connecting Seoul, the beautiful capital of South Korea with Dalat in the central highlands, Can Tho in the southwest which is Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, Nha Trang on the south-central coast and Phu Quoc that is known as Vietnam’s “Pearl Island”, Vietjet’s routes can boost tourism, trade and cultural exchanges between the two countries. At the same time, it will also forge even closer links between South Korea and ASEAN, one of the world’s fastest-growing economic blocks.

According to the announced plan, the Seoul (Incheon) – Can Tho route will operate three return flights per week and Seoul (Incheon) – Da Lat route will fly four return flights per week starting from January 2020 with a flight time of approximately 5 hours per leg for both routes. The airline will increase the frequency of its flights on the two current routes linking Seoul (Incheon) – Nha Trang and Phu Quoc to meet the rising demand of passengers.

During the special ceremony to announce the new routes, Vietjet Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Hung thanked the governments of Vietnam and South Korea in creating favorable conditions for business investment and cooperation between the countries.

On behalf of Vietjet, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung also pledged that the airline will continue to offer more flying opportunities to people in the region by opening new routes, all operated with the world’s most modern fleet. He also added that all Vietjet passengers can look forward to being served by a dedicated and friendly cabin crew while flying with an airline that has one of the world’s best records for safety and technical reliability.

With the new routes, Vietjet now operates the most flights connecting Vietnam and South Korea totaling 11 routes and 480 flights per month. The airline’s growing network is greatly appreciated by the leaders and governments from both countries for boosting bilateral ties and improving the strategic cooperation between the two nations.
