Sun-seeking Brits who are getting ready for a summer break can avoid holiday misery by setting sail with DFDS this July and August.
As travelers face the prospect of thousands more flights from UK airports being canceled this summer, the ferry company is asking the public ‘why fly when you can ferry?’ The operator’s three routes to France offer an alternative for holidaymakers who want to make the short hop over to Europe this summer.
With the convenience of being able to load up the car and take the whole family, including the dog, road trips by ferry are a hassle-free way to getaway and fall in love with traveling again. There are no lengthy airport queues, no luggage restrictions to worry about and there is plenty to entertain the children during the journey. The company offers up to 54 daily departures from Dover to France and three per day from Newhaven in Sussex to Dieppe in Normandy. Its award-winning British and French crews ensure that customers can relax during the ferry crossing and hit the road feeling refreshed upon arrival at the destination.

Travel restrictions for fully vaccinated visitors to France ended earlier this year. There is no requirement to undergo a Covid test before traveling to France or when returning to the UK. Holidaymakers will need to complete an EU Passenger Locator Form and show proof of vaccination.
Fares on DFDS’ Dover to Calais and Dover to Dunkirk routes start from £68 each way for a car and four people. For easy access to Normandy and central France, sailings on the company’s Newhaven to Dieppe route start at £80 each way for a car and two people.
Further savings can be found onboard and in two new Duty-Free shops at Calais and Dunkirk, where there is an opportunity to round-off your holiday with a treat. The shops stock electronics, toys, fragrances, and alcohol at up to 50 percent off UK high street prices.
Ferry bookings must be made by 30 August 2022 for travel before 15 September 2022. DFDS’ Travel Guarantee offers free cancellation on crossings taken before 30 September 2023.
