Founded in 1997 and providing destination-focused journeys on rivers, oceans and lakes around the world, Viking announced three new, first-of-their-kind itineraries that will provide guests with exclusive access to China in 2024.
The new itineraries, ranging from 10 to 20 days, are set to explore China’s most famous cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. What sets these voyages apart is the inclusion of domestic sailings along China’s coast, showcasing hidden gems and ports previously inaccessible to international visitors. This unique offering is a first in the industry, allowing travelers to experience China like never before.
Operating from September to November, these voyages will be conducted on the Viking Yi Dun, formerly known as the Viking Sun. This ship, flagged under China, mirrors the award-winning design and service standard of Viking’s ocean fleet. The Viking Yi Dun’s dedication to the foreign market for domestic sailings in China is a pioneering move, further enhancing Viking’s reputation for innovative travel experiences.
Each journey is designed to embody The Viking Way® of exploration. This approach focuses on providing immersive experiences that connect guests with the rich history, culture, and people of China. Travelers can look forward to engaging lectures, Chinese-inspired cuisine, and insights from destination experts. These elements combine to create a deeply enriching and educational voyage.
Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking, expressed his pride in this new venture. “Viking has always been at the forefront of offering unique and enriching travel experiences. Our new itineraries in China are no exception. For over 15 years, our Yangtze River voyages have been a favorite among our guests. We’ve introduced them to the real China – from the Great Wall to the Terra Cotta Warriors. Now, we’re excited to offer these new encounters, allowing travelers to delve deeper into a country that continues to fascinate and inspire.”
