Full-Scale Productions across Cruise Ships
Full-scale productions are also becoming more extravagant, and more commonplace. It’s been a few years now since Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, who own numerous cruises including the Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Oceania Cruises opened their new studio in Tampa Florida. It’s over 46,000 square feet and on any given day, production writers, lighting engineers, choreographers and seamstresses work long hours for shows that are to be performed on the large fleet of ships the company owns.
Nine production casts can be set up at any given time, and in 2017 they hosted over 800 cast members who were trained to take part in 134 shows. Since then, productions have grown even more, and performers are given the chance to learn everything they need to know about ship life before boarding. This helps to minimize any unwelcome surprises for people, and it also helps staff members to adjust. Royal Caribbean’s studio is also another one to take note of. This is set to be the biggest rehearsal studio in the world and it can even be seen from space. Every year, 1,500 performers go there with productions offered to their fleet of 25 ships. With 14 dance studios and an audio recording room, performances can be fine-tuned to ensure that guests are getting the best experience when onboard.
Acts that include ice skating, acrobatics and high diving can be practiced and then moved onto the ship where guests can be entertained. Show costumes are also designed on the complex, with operations like this helping to ensure that cruise entertainment is always top-notch and designed to provide the most thrilling experience possible to fans.
Cruise ship entertainment has come a long way from cheap karaoke nights and celebrity impersonators. Now you can expect large-scale productions that rival that of Broadway, not to mention that there are also a lot of opportunities for people to connect with the entertainment they know and love through stable Wi-Fi.
