The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) will host the European Congress of Immunology (ECI) in Dublin in 2024.
Dublin, as an exciting and accessible destination, with an active Irish association – Irish Society for Immunology (ISI) – and a tradition of immunology research, proved to be a prime location for ECI 2024, having beaten off competition from Madrid, Florence, Prague and Geneva. The CCD was then selected as the venue to host this conference, for its unsurpassed reputation of excellence.
This will be the 7th ECI, taking place from 1 – 4 September 2024 in The CCD. The successful bid was made by the ISI committee in association with Keynote PCO at this year’s ECI 2018 in Amsterdam, supported by The CCD, Fáilte Ireland and Meet In Ireland. The congress is expected to attract over 3,000 delegates from 80 different countries around the world, generating just shy of €5m for the local economy.
Professor Ed Lavelle from Trinity College Dublin, who is President of the ISI and Chairperson of ECI 2024 said, “We are thrilled to have been successful in our recent bid to host the 2024 ECI in Dublin. It has been a core ambition of the ISI to host this meeting and demonstrate our commitment to European Immunology in the context of the European Federation of Immunology Societies. Irish Immunology has a strong and growing reputation and this meeting will be a springboard for greater engagement with the international community.”
Adrienne Clarke, Head of Conference Sales in The CCD, who helped support the successful bid commented, “We are thrilled that ECI 2024 is coming to Dublin and The CCD. The committee’s hard work and dedication over the years has paid off and we look forward to welcoming all those from The European Congress of Immunology.”
This win means a great deal to the ISI committee, as it was their third attempt at bidding for the conference, showing the commitment and dedication of all those involved.
