This Two-Day Tulsa Fest Will Take You Back 100 Years

This two-day Tulsa Fest celebrates the iconic Route 66 in a way that feels like stepping straight into a vintage postcard. On June 21 and 22, the AAA Route 66 Road Fest returns to Tulsa, Oklahoma, transforming more than 100,000 square feet of space into a vivid tribute to America’s most legendary highway.

With classic cars, nostalgic exhibits, and guest appearances by road culture icons, the event invites visitors to relive the golden age of the American road trip.

100 Years of Route 66 in One Immersive Weekend

As Route 66 nears its 100th anniversary, Tulsa—officially declared the Capital of Route 66—hosts one of the largest celebrations along the Mother Road. The event, organized by AAA, is more than just a car show. It’s a cultural festival, historical experience, and family-friendly gathering rolled into one. Guests can explore decades of American travel history through exhibits, live presentations, music, and even an RV walk-through park.

“Buckle up and get ready to immerse yourself in the nostalgia and rich heritage of Route 66,” says Ben Young, Director of Content & Brand at AAA Oklahoma. “The AAA Route 66 Road Fest is an invitation to step back in time and relive the golden age of road trips.”

From Model Ts to Autonomous Vehicles

The heart of the festival is the spectacular automobile showcase, where local and regional car enthusiasts display vehicles spanning the evolution of the American car—from early Ford Model Ts to sleek, futuristic autonomous designs. Competitive categories ensure a lively and diverse lineup, offering something for both lifelong collectors and casual car lovers.

Fans of RV culture can also stroll through a curated park of retro and modern campers in the event’s RV Park & Rest Area. This unique exhibit blends nostalgia with today’s travel trends, highlighting the rising popularity of RV road trips across the U.S.

Legends of the Mother Road Take the Stage

The 2025 Tulsa Fest expands its Presentation Stage to nearly double its past programming. Route 66 authors and historians like Michael Wallis, Jim Hinckley, and Joe Sonderman will share stories and insight into the past, present, and future of the road. Attendees can also watch Joey Madia portray Cyrus Avery, widely recognized as the “Father of Route 66.”

Adding to the nostalgic thrill is a trick roping show by Jennifer Rogers, great-granddaughter of Will Rogers, followed by live music performances from Oklahoma favorites like the Red Dirt Rangers, Annie Ellicott, and Weston Horn. It’s the first time live music has returned to Road Fest since its inaugural year.

Family Fun and Classic Americana

The expanded kids’ activity area ensures that families can enjoy the fest together. Highlights include Pinewood Derby races, miniature golf, Hot Wheels tracks, and creative art stations for all ages. It’s an accessible and interactive way for young visitors to connect with travel heritage and car culture.

Special guest Richard Rawlings, star of the TV show Fast & Loud and owner of Gas Monkey Garage, brings a dose of modern celebrity to the lineup. His appearance adds crossover appeal for fans of contemporary car culture.

The AAA Route 66 Road Fest runs from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, and from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22. Tickets are $10 at the door or online. Kids 12 and under get in free with a paid adult, while seniors, military, and AAA members enjoy discounted rates at the door with ID.

Whether you’re a car collector, road trip romantic, music lover, or history buff, the Tulsa Fest is a rare chance to experience Route 66’s past—and its future—all in one unforgettable weekend.
