Mexico’s Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) and the Government of the State of Yucatán have confirmed that the 45 edition of the trade event, Tianguis Turístico México, is scheduled to take place in Mérida.
Mexico’s Minister of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, and the Governor of the state of Yucatán, Mauricio Vila Dosal, announce that, after analyzing the development of the current situation regarding the Covid-19 pandemic and attending to the responsibility of governments to ensure the health of all those involved, the decision has been made to schedule Tianguis Turístico México, which will take place in Merida as an onsite event, from September 26 to 29, 2021.
Given the prevailing uncertainty, postponing this event, that is the main tourism event in Mexico and Latin America, will allow mobility to normalize and will help participants to be in optimal conditions to conduct business in a face-to-face format. Preserving the health of attendees, both national and foreign, as well as the local population, is the priority.
The new dates were selected after analyzing the calendar of international trade events, which will allow greater attendance based on this agenda, since the main tourist fairs and trade events in the world of the first half of 2021, have been postponed; such as Fitur, in Madrid, which will now be held in May; or they have changed their format, like ITB in Berlin, which will take place, but in digital format.
“We are confident that this change will benefit the Mexican tourism industry, as it will allow to have the necessary conditions to host a successful face-to-face Tianguis Turístico México in Mérida,” declared Mexico’s Minister of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, and the Governor of Yucatán, Mauricio Vila Dosal.
The government of the state of Yucatán through the Minister of Tourism, Michelle Fridman, will continue to work in coordination with Mexico’s Minister of Tourism and with the private sector so the 2021 edition is the watershed for a resilient and innovative Tianguis Turístico Mexico.
Minister Torruco Marqués and Governor Vila Dosal reiterate their recognition and gratitude to the Governor of Guerrero, Héctor Astudillo Flores, for his sensitivity and generosity in handing over the 2021 turn that corresponded to the port of Acapulco to host the Tianguis Turístico
