Iberia launches direct flights from Madrid to Orlando in October 2025, marking the Spanish carrier’s first-ever regular scheduled service to Central Florida. The new route will offer a nonstop transatlantic connection between Spain’s vibrant capital city and one of the world’s most visited tourist destinations.
The announcement was made jointly by Iberia and Orlando International Airport (MCO), with the new service scheduled to begin on October 26, 2025, pending final government approval. Flights will operate four times per week and be served by Airbus A330 aircraft with a capacity of 254 passengers, offering a comfortable wide-body experience for long-haul travelers.
This new route adds a valuable link between two high-profile destinations. Madrid, known for its royal palaces, art museums, and culinary culture, will now be just one flight away from Orlando, the theme park capital of the world and a major hub for international conferences and business travel. The direct connection is expected to support both leisure and commercial travel, benefiting the tourism sectors on both sides of the Atlantic.
Kevin J. Thibault, CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, expressed enthusiasm about the development. He called the launch a long-awaited milestone and praised the cooperation between Iberia and MCO’s Air Services Development team. “This partnership reflects our commitment to further promote global connections,” he said, emphasizing the cultural and economic value of the new route.
The move is part of Iberia’s continued expansion in the United States, a key market for the airline. In recent years, the carrier has increased its long-haul services to North America, and the addition of Orlando to its network comes at a strategic time as travel demand between Europe and the U.S. continues to recover and grow.
María Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Commercial, Customer, Network Development and Alliances Director, said the airline believes Orlando could become a major seasonal highlight. “We are really excited to announce the opening of this new route next winter season. We believe that Orlando can become the star destination for next Christmas,” she noted in a statement.
The route will cater to travelers seeking both cultural enrichment and family-oriented experiences. Orlando’s world-famous theme parks, including Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, draw millions of international visitors annually. With Madrid offering equally rich experiences in history, art, and architecture, the two cities are a perfect pairing for transatlantic exploration.
The introduction of this route also strengthens Orlando International Airport’s growing portfolio of international carriers. Iberia joins a list of major airlines connecting MCO to cities across Europe, Latin America, and beyond. For Central Florida residents, the new service opens up more convenient travel options to continental Europe, while inbound Spanish tourists will now have easier access to Florida’s attractions and coastline.
The A330 aircraft used on the route will include both business and economy class cabins, with modern amenities and inflight entertainment tailored for long-distance comfort. Iberia is known for its onboard service and European-style hospitality, which the airline hopes will appeal to a diverse range of travelers departing from and arriving in Orlando.
Tickets for the new Madrid-Orlando flights are expected to go on sale later this year. Once operational, the route is set to boost tourism and business exchange between Spain and Florida, offering new possibilities for cultural collaboration and travel convenience just in time for the winter travel season.
