AnadoluJet Launches New Direct Flights Between London Stansted and Ankara

Ankara, Turkey, is now more accessible for UK travellers, thanks to a new service launched by AnadoluJet, the budget subsidiary of Turkish Airlines.

The inaugural flight departed from Ankara’s Esenboğa Airport for London Stansted on Wednesday, July 19, marking the initiation of the thrice-weekly service.

According to the schedule, flights will take off from Ankara at 12:45pm and reach London Stansted at 3pm. The return journey will commence at Stansted at 4pm and conclude in Ankara at 9:55pm.

Simon Gorrighan, Aviation Director at London Stansted, expressed his delight over the new addition, stating that Stansted is the only UK airport currently offering direct scheduled flights to the Turkish capital. “Over the peak holiday months, Jet2, Pegasus Airlines, AnadoluJet, TUI and Corendon will offer up to 113 weekly flights to six Turkish hotspots: Antalya, Ankara, Bodrum, Dalaman, Izmir, and Istanbul,” he added.

Gorrighan is confident that the new link will appeal to both business and leisure passengers, with the summer season seeing Stansted offer more flights to Turkey than ever before. Indeed, Turkey has risen to become one of the airport’s most sought-after destinations.

AnadoluJet, part of the Turkish Airlines brand since 2008, already has an extensive domestic network across Turkey and operates international flights to 95 destinations in 32 countries.

The London-Ankara service will be facilitated by a Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, adding yet another notch to AnadoluJet’s ever-expanding global footprint. This development brings the excitement of exploring the rich culture, history, and sights of Turkey’s capital closer to UK residents and strengthens business links between the two nations.
