Recently, you may read a news that a British tourist terrified after a Turkish resort staged a mock ISIS-style attack and stormed the pool area with fake guns and cans of ‘fuel’ – just six week after the Tunisian beach massacre. The hotel released an official press release.
Jason Phythian (43), an electrician, from Fallowfield, Greater Manchester becomes one of the most talked person in UK after he told his make-up holiday story in Turkey. He told The Sun’s Mike Ridley that while he was relaxing beside the pool at the five-star Grand Yazici Mares hotel in Icmeler when a worker – dressed in Arab clothing – poured liquid marked ‘fuel’ over him. “There were loads of British people round the pool, and suddenly everyone became terrified” he added.
Grand Yazıcı Mares Hotel sent an official press release to ftnNEWS saying that the hotel offers various animation activities during the day. All their guests are invited and free to join these activities. Hotel’s animation team members dress up according to the activities.
The hotel says,
“The publicized pictures of one of our animation show, do not contain-and show the entire frame of the picture of all other animation team members in other costumes around the pool area and the guests which were participating. Therefore we strongly believe that only certain pictures were publicized deliberately to use these against us. During the day of the show approximately 1500 guests were at our hotel and we did not receive the slightest negative comment about it from them. Animation team activities are never based around terrorism. Their only purpose is to entertain.”
Another guest of the hotel; Peter Doyle from Coventry was also at the hotel during that animation took place. He wrote to The Sun that he was on holiday in the Mares Hotel with his family and friends.
Peter wrote an email to The Sun saying, “This was not as described in your story and nobody ran in panic as the entertainers dress up every day for fun to entertain all. I have photos to show this was fun and am annoyed that some fool has made complete lies about what happened. The hotel and entertainment team are fantastic and it is so unfair to have such rubbish written! Please contact me if you wish to correct this story as it is unfair to worry people about this hotel and the resort in Turkey. Jason from Manchester is clearly trying to claim compensation. This place cannot be criticised in this way!”
Hotel said that photographs were deliberately manipulated combined with a twisted scenario had upset a lot of people and is not honest and ethical. “It’s obvious that photos used for the news are cropped and don’t show the big picture to make any judgement of the claims been made and this shows the real intention of those people. If it was filmed instead of a plain picture of the scene it would be obvious that guests were enjoying themselves. Mr Jason &Maureen Phythian that stayed in Grand Yazıcı Mares on the dates between 31.07-10.08.2015 never came to the hotel management or to the tour operator to complain or to report any distress or upset caused by the animation team. After our inhouse inspection, we didn’t find any record or any report been made by the couple in concern. In a degree of extreme distress, people would cut their holiday short or change hotels but in Mr Jason&Maureen Phythians case, they choose to stay till the end of their holiday. Is it all because to sell the false story to tabloid to gain means of finance?”
