The Turkish government announced a four-day curfew in 31 provinces beginning April 23 as part of the nation’s efforts to curb coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Interior Ministry ordered curfew measures to governors of the following cities Ankara, Adana, Antalya, Aydin, Balikesir, Bursa, Denizli, Diyarbakir, Erzurum, Eskisehir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Istanbul, Izmir, Kahramanmaras, Kayseri, Kocaeli, Konya, Malatya, Manisa, Mardin, Mersin, Mugla, Ordu, Sakarya, Samsun, Sanliurfa, Tekirdag, Trabzon, Van and Zonguldak.
As an exception, bakeries, hospitals, pharmacies, and workplaces producing health products and medical supplies will continue to operate.
Markets and grocery stores will stay open between 8 a.m. – 11 p.m. on April 21-22 due to the beginning of Ramadan. On the first two days of the curfew (23-24 April), people will be allowed to go to the nearest markets and grocery stores from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will be closed on Saturday and Sunday (25-26 April).
