Heavy Snow in Istanbul Affects Air Traffic

Turkish Airlines has canceled 180 flights scheduled for Saturday as heavy snowfall hit Istanbul.

As many as 162 flights to and from Istanbul Airport were canceled, out of which 60 were on international routes, according to a statement by the national flag carrier.

Another 18 flights from Sabiha Gokcen Airport, Istanbul’s main air hub on the city’s Asian side, were canceled, it added.

Turkish Airlines said on its website that due to severe weather conditions in İstanbul, some of our flights from/to the İstanbul Airport and Sabiha Gökçen Airport scheduled to operate between March 10, 2022 – March 12, 2022 are canceled.

“To check the status of your flight and learn about your rights regarding your flights, please visit the flight status page and enter your flight number or your route.

Passengers whose flights are canceled can perform their transactions until the flight departure time through the Turkish Airlines website, mobile applications, and call center as well as through the agency that issued the ticket.

Passengers whose flight departure time has passed can call +90 850 333 0 849 for changes and refund.

Thank you for your understanding.”

Turkey’s low-cost carrier Pegasus published an announcement in Turkish language only. The announcement says, “Due to the adverse weather conditions in Istanbul, the following rights are offered to our guests on our flights to and from Istanbul Airport and Sabiha Gökçen Airport on 10-11-12-13 March.
