IHG Hotels & Resorts, a global leader in the hospitality industry, is significantly expanding its presence in Türkiye with the addition of six new hotels across six different cities.
This move highlights IHG’s commitment to sustainable growth in Europe and reflects the diverse appeal of its brand portfolio.
Willemijn Geels, VP of Development Europe at IHG, expressed optimism about the Turkish market, citing a strong demand from both domestic and international travelers. She emphasized the confidence of their owners in IHG’s brands and the positive outlook for the hospitality and travel sector in Türkiye.
The expansion includes properties from five of IHG’s brands: InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Holiday Inn Resort. Each property is strategically located to cater to a mix of business and leisure travelers, showcasing the versatility and appeal of IHG’s offerings.
The Essentials segment sees the opening of Holiday Inn Mersin, IHG’s first hotel in Mersin city, expected to launch in late 2026. This 95-room property, a collaboration with Koknar Turizm San. ve Tic. LTD Sti., will be part of a new financial development, close to the city center and with easy access to the seaside. Another addition is Holiday Inn Express Istanbul Arnavutkoy, set to open in late 2025 near Istanbul International Airport. This 64-room hotel, a partnership with Firatim Insaat Gayrimenkul San. Ve Tic. Ltd. Sti., will feature a bar, restaurant, and terrace.
The Premium category welcomes Crowne Plaza Yalova, IHG’s first hotel in Yalova, opening in spring 2024. Signed with Marti Termal Turizm Insaat Sanayi, this 106-room hotel is ideal for visitors to the city’s thermal baths and beaches. Also, Crowne Plaza Kayseri, opening in Q2 2024, offers 186 guest rooms and is conveniently located for Kayseri’s industrial zone and Erciyes Mountain ski resort.
The Luxury & Lifestyle segment is further strengthened with the upcoming InterContinental Bursa. This 231-key luxury hotel, developed in partnership with Atis Yapi, is set to be the largest hotel in Bursa, a UNESCO World Heritage city. This hotel, expected to open in early 2025, complements the existing InterContinental Istanbul and the soon-to-open InterContinental Grand Ankara, slated for late 2024.
IHG’s growth in Türkiye is part of a broader strategy, with thirty hotels already open and nine more in the pipeline, spanning brands like Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts, and Holiday Inn Express.
