Kartalkaya Ski Resort, one of Turkiye’s premier winter tourism destinations, has officially opened its ski season, heralding a time of excitement and winter sports. For those eager to start their winter holidays early, the resort offers artificially snowed slopes with approximately 1-meter snow depth, ideal for skiing. Despite a quiet start on the first day of the season, the resort anticipates an influx of vacationers in the coming weeks, particularly with the forecast of more snowfall over the weekend and the following week.
Yusuf Avcı, the general manager of two hotels at the resort, shared with journalists that the ski season had commenced. He mentioned that the slopes have about 1 meter of snow, and efforts are being made to ensure skier satisfaction, including nightly artificial snowing to prepare the slopes for the morning.
Avcı also expressed satisfaction with the occupancy rates, which have exceeded expectations. “Our hotels are receiving continuous bookings. We hope to expand our slopes with more snow by next weekend and open them fully,” he said.
Last season, the resort implemented a new system that interconnected all slopes, enhancing the skiing experience. Avcı mentioned ongoing discussions with the other three hotels in the region to continue this practice. “The details are not finalized yet. We expect to conclude our negotiations once the other hotels open their slopes next week. Hopefully, like last season, we will unite all slopes for skiers’ use,” he stated.
