52 domestic tourists were taken to hospital in Manavgat after reporting symptoms consistent with food poisoning following a rafting trip in Türkiye’s Antalya province. Officials said the visitors were in good condition and were expected to be discharged after treatment.
The group had travelled from Konya on a day tour to the Beşkonak area of Köprülü Canyon National Park. After finishing the rafting activity, they ate at the same business by the Köprüçay River, where 52 people later began to feel unwell.
Authorities opened an investigation into the incident, which happened at a riverside business in the park. The Manavgat District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism both started inquiries.
The tourists were taken to Manavgat State Hospital in the vehicles they had arrived in, where they received initial treatment. Hospital officials said their condition was good and that they would be released after observation and care.
The case has drawn attention because it involves a large tour group at one of the region’s popular outdoor tourism sites. Köprülü Canyon National Park is a well-known destination for rafting and other adventure activities, and the incident may prompt closer checks on food safety at tourist-facing businesses in the area.
Local officials have not yet said what may have caused the reported poisoning. The investigation is continuing.
