SunExpress is set to begin direct flights from Ankara to Rotterdam on 15 July, adding a new European destination to its summer schedule.
The airline said the route will operate once a week on Wednesdays throughout the summer and will increase the number of international destinations it serves directly from Ankara to 14.
SunExpress, a joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, already flies from Ankara to 13 other overseas destinations, including Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hannover, Munich, Stockholm, Stuttgart, Vienna and Zurich.
Rotterdam is the Netherlands’ second-largest city and one of Europe’s major trade and logistics centres. It is also known for its cultural life and modern architecture.
The first flight from Ankara to Rotterdam is scheduled for Wednesday, 15 July, with return services also running weekly on the same day.
The new route expands SunExpress’s presence in the Turkish capital during the summer travel season, as airlines continue to target demand for short-haul European breaks and visiting friends and relatives travel.
SunExpress has positioned Ankara as an important departure point in its network, offering direct access to a wide range of cities across Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and other parts of Europe.
The carrier’s latest announcement comes as summer travel remains strong across the region. For travellers in Ankara, the addition of Rotterdam offers another option for city breaks, business trips and onward connections through the Dutch transport and trade hub.
