The Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Turkiye has released the tourism data for the first two months of 2024, showcasing a significant uptick in international visitor numbers.
In comparison to the same period last year, the country welcomed 4,341,606 foreign guests, marking a 12% increase from the 3,876,381 visitors recorded in 2023.
February alone saw an influx of 2,294,579 international tourists, representing a remarkable 22.68% rise over the numbers from February of the previous year. According to preliminary data from the General Directorate of Security, of the tourists visiting in February, 7,106 were day-trippers, underlining the country’s appeal for short visits as well.
This positive trend in the January-February period of 2024 reflects a 12% growth in the number of international visitors, compared to the same timeframe in the previous year. The majority of these visitors entered Turkey through its leading border gates, with Istanbul, Edirne, Antalya, Artvin, and Ağrı being the top provinces welcoming the highest number of foreign guests.
